Nope. Made my own fan edit years ago. Made it just the way I wanted it. I have to revise it now & add Return To Krypton. But, as I said, I love it just the way I have it. And to me, that's all a fan cut is really about. Making it just they way you personally want it. And since I'm on the subject, my cut does not open with Lex. It opens on the Kent farm with Ma & Ben & it REALLY helps the feel of the movie. You'd probably like it a little better. I also added all the Clark on the Farm stuff. I love taking time out from the story & just getting to live in a characters skin for a little while. But, thats just me. I cant wait to see it open with Return to Krypton. Sounds like Superman Restored is going to be similar to what you did, but already includes Return to Krypton. Anything that adds more Routh and removes Singer/Ottman's crap filler can only be good. So all the (adult) Clark on the farm stuff is a good idea. I am still pissed off that they pulled a bait-and-switch on us in 2006: all that great stuff was in the trailer right up until the last minute, but yanked from the movie.

ATP: Yes the Return to Krypton sequence is in the Superman Restored cut, with music too I know that much even though I still have not seen it, I have had the fan cut downloaded for a couple of days now (I am still seeding) but my Xbox 360 which is hooked up to my projector and 89 inch screen can´t play .m4v files so right now I am converting it to the .wmv format. I hope that I can watch it later today, and from what I understand Julian put a lot of the deleted scenes in his cut. Clark on the farm, and other nice changes are made. All done with very good editing, I really can't wait to see it!

I believe that it was wrecked mainly because of editing choices which were clearly not planned properly and made at the last minute (for proof of this last minute hack job, ask yourself why James Karan's name appears in the main credits) and that there is probably a good movie that can be salvaged from the mess.

If anyone figures out a way to edit Bosworthless out of the movie and replace her with, I dunno, a suitcase or something, please let me know.

On a serious note, I hope they edited out, "It's deadly... to him."
I also wish that they could edit out all reference to Jason being Superman's child. Get rid of the whole piano scene and the "son becomes the father" speech at the end.
Please try.

Plus lose "Super stalker man"; oh, and SuperWillPower, and the entire hospital sequence.
I'd do myself a "fan edit", but I fear it would be more chopped up than Superman IV!

Well, there appears to be more than enough material in the deleted scenes to more than make up for any chops. I wish the movie had focussed much more on the return to krypton theme. i would have liked to see Superman hearing that astronomers had found it, building his ship and deciding to go.

ATP...I'm fascinated. After years of you trolling about with "it's crap", suddenly you're...trying to do it? Has fatherhood softened you?
Actually, I'd love for YOU to make a fan edit. To see you kind of come around like this is really cool, and I think you could make a pretty objective edit. Please.

Can anyone confirm if their UK set has the disc labels intact yet? My set's coming from Amazon.co.uk and I'm hoping the labels are there.
If not then I won't be impressed. It's just another inexcusable botch-job by the studio/distributors.
I know that the US release has a sturdier case AND labels intact so there's really no excuse. Does nobody fucking check anything nowadays before releasing it to the public?

Actually, I'd love for YOU to make a fan edit. To see you kind of come around like this is really cool, and I think you could make a pretty objective edit. Please. Well, I don't know enough about the technical stuff to make a fan edit. But it sounds like my ideal version would be very similar to the "Superman Restored" one. In addition, I would probably erase all references to Jason being Superman's child. (If there was a sequel that built on this, then MAYBE it would be worth keeping. But as it stands, it's a huge departure from the mythology without any real point.) The other major change I would make would be to re-use the original Williams music in several places. I actually like Ottman's Lex Luthor theme better than Williams' version, so that can stay. But I can't stand that awful church music he came up with for Superman's "personal theme". It's depressing, over the top and is more suitable for a bible movie than Superman. There are three main places where I would replace it: 1) When Superman is flying up into space and listening to all the sounds. I would get rid of Ottman's music, and replace it with the music from STM when Jor-El is saying goodbye to the baby. (Same music used in the repowering in Donner Cut of S2.) 2) When he and Lois lift off from the Daily Planet roof. I would replace the church music with the flying music from STM. 3) When he flies up to the sun to recharge just before lifting the continent up. I would replace the church music with the STM music just before he turns the world back. (The music when you hear Jor El saying it is forbidden to interfere with human history.) Besides for the church music replacement, I would also change the music in the Return to Krypton scene. I would like to have used the music from STM's Krypton scenes. The background music when Jor-El and Lara are talking (Extended Cut) would be good for when the spaceship is cruising along with its searchlight looking for survivors. www.youtube.com/watch?v=HbOR1NJdJfE0:20 - 1: 50 I would then use the "green crystal music" from STM when we see the kryptonite and see Routh start to weaken. Then use the spaceship launch music from STM for the part when he gets the spaceship away from the kryptonite fragments and escapes back to earth. I would also use the "green crystal" music from STM in some of the New Krypton scenes -- especially when we see close ups of kryptonite.

I don't think it looks any different Sounds like there's no point in getting it on Bluray then. Why the heck did Singer have to make the picture so dark? Even Tim Burton's films are brighter and clearer.

It moved the mythology forward, and the personal story forward imo, even past the comics. The comics themselves got stuck on the personal story & into a rut for quite a long time imo. (The marriage to Lois ended up being such a giant creative dead end, they're undoing it now, so what does that say? *sigh*) They didn't want to change anything, but they didn't really want to move too far from what everyone knows as being the "Superman" they remember. So, having the kid was interesting to me. It gave something fresh and significant to Superman's development as a character. I think this COULD have been handled badly, and Jason could have been another 'little Ricky' from SIII- but instead I thought it was handled perfectly as a sort of ending (since it has to be, now) for the Donner Superman story.... although, of course, as I mentioned, the Richard loose end that didn't get wrapped up isn't quite so great, of course.

I noticed differences in Reeve's films (I swear the blue on his costume in SIV looks different) but SR pretty much the same. Not really worth upgrading if you have the DVD IMO unless you're a fan of the film.

If you saw the DVD/Blu-ray for SR back in 2006, don't expect anything different. S2DC and SR are the same exact transfers as before. Laaaaazyyyyyyy.

SR looks the same as the DVD in terms of quality, to me.
However, don't think I'm just being negative for negativity's sake. I just watched Superman IV and to me, this has the most impressive transfer. Also, the fact that Reeve's suit has the correct blue is a massive improvement.

It's not just you mate. A few people have noticed it. It looks pretty damn good, especially on Lex's balcony when Supes first meets 80's Mullet Man.
