I've got all 4 seasons of this and am just starting from season 1.
I used to watch it as a kid but only seem to remember a scene where lana (I think) was strapped to one of those stretchy torture devices and is saved by Superboy. Any one know which season/episode this is? I used to watch that scene over and over on the old VHS.

No worries, Dickie. I'm sure I'll notice it when I get to that episode mate.

I was just talking the other day how annoying it is that WB hasn't released this full series on DVD (or Br) like they have Lois and Clark and Smallville.
At leased let US decide if we want to buy it or not instead of it being unavailable. Lame.

Very lame, considering season 4 of L&C is perhaps the worst single season of a Superman-related TV show ever.
They spent an episode picking out curtains. CURTAINS!

Exactly! It's ridiculous when you think of the rubbish that gets released and the gems get shelved. It'd be nice to be able to choose whether or not we want it.

I'm kinda annoyed. A few months ago I was able to watch full episodes of Superboy Seasons 2-4 on YouTube. Now they've vanished.

Very true I crap on Smallvilles last season but they just missed the mark. Lois & Clark season 4 didn't even bother to AIM for it. That awful Fathead series finale was just embarrassing. At that point it was like taking old yeller out back...only people still cared about old yeller ;D Which season had the episode with the shrinking shampoo? Was that season 4? I think they've just haven't had as much interest in Superboy since it wasn't as high profile as L&C was at its peak. I mean...one was a network show and the other was syndicated. One was an hourlong targeted primarily at women and the other was a half hour show that was targeted at a slightly younger audience. Still...you'd think they would release the rest of the series since they went to the trouble of getting the rest of the rights to the series from Viacom. Oddly enough Stacy Haiduk ended up on a show competing with L&C that first year. I'm kinda annoyed. A few months ago I was able to watch full episodes of Superboy Seasons 2-4 on YouTube. Now they've vanished. Maybe that bodes well for a release? I didn't get season 1 but I'd damn sure puck up season 2 ASAP.

I'm watching Season 2 of Lois and Clark for the first time since it aired.
It's...rough.
There's some DEFINITE awesome stuff in there but overall, wow. What a drop. This time around, however, I'm actually liking Justin Whalin's Jimmy.

damn.
Can't fucking find these.
Why C&D something that you have no intention of releasing? It's not even like it's airing on any cable channels or anything. WB is just sitting on this, and they're taking down shitty pirated streaming copies? That's fucking weak, I'm sorry.

Find a torrent and get some blank DVDs.

ah, thanks to the magic of torrents, I now have Superboy Seasons 2-4, which I can stream from my hard drive to my television courtesy of the Windows Media Center. Excellent!

I still am wondering why, at the very least, WB doesn't test-drive a season two on itunes or dvd-on-demand....
*sigh* (yep, I emailed WB and just got a form letter response....)

Sometimes I loathe the fact that WB own Superman/boy cos' they don't give a damn and wont release a thing.
So,what warrants the release of the George Reeves Superman man series,Lois and Clark,Smallville and NOT Superboy?
?

Well, for starters, all of those were network shows with WAAAAY bigger followings than Superboy ever had. The first season of L&C was groundbreaking and smart with great production values. Even the latter seasons, the lesser quality ones, when the ratings fell, ALL did better than Superboy in terms of viewership. The George Reeves series is one of the most successful and iconic television shows EVER, let alone superhero shows. Smallville, annoying as it was, was also a big success, and because of its "newness" is an almost guaranteed sell on DVD/BluRay.
Can't say any of that about Superboy, as much as I enjoy it. And apparently sales of Season One were really poor. They must have been REALLY poor for them to not even bother with Season Two. It's a damn shame, as 2, 3, and 4 are the better seasons from what I can tell!

Yea,I see what you mean and it is understandable.
Sb season one not performing well on DVD naturally reflects WB not releasing the other seasons. They should have released the lot in one go...
Look how long it took for WB to release S3 and 4,we'll get there eventually I hope.
1,3 and 4 are my favs of the show. 2 was really bad.

Just watched the series finale two-parter, "Rites of Passage"
I gotta say...wow. For something with no big baddie, and is actually played pretty light (Superboy loses his powers, needs to find a crystal, all while Lana and his boss are snooping around Smallville investigating the rocket landing 21 years earlier), this is a BRILLIANT piece of Superman television.
I don't think I had ever watched any Season 4 episodes, and I can safely say that by this point in the show, Gerard was a 100% credible Superman. He's sure of himself, his acting is WAY less wooden than in earlier seasons, and he really, REALLY looks terrific. Probably looks the part better than anyone this side of Reeve.
They do the whole thing without pulling a "and now, you shall be called SuperMAN" on it. Cute ending, too. Really amusing.
I've been skipping around and watching highlights. I think I'm actually gonna go through the whole show now. Something tells me it's worth suffering through the rough stuff of Seasons 1 and 2 to get to the good stuff in Seasons 3 and 4. We often speculate on here what a colorful, sci-fi themed Superman series would be like, and this is as close as we're gonna get for awhile.
It's criminal that WB won't at least release these later seasons for download or something. For example, they released the Doc Savage movie last year on DVD, but it's one of those "made to order" DVR deals with pro-packaging, BUT, you also have the option of, instead of paying $20 for a DVR, paying $10 to download it to your Amazon video library, which you can watch anywhere. It's smart. They know there's limited interest, so they limit their costs. If they were to do the same with Superboy, even offering the episodes at a buck a piece on iTunes and Amazon, they'd do quite well with it.

A buddy of mine who videotaped the red carpet for SR (he wouldn't allow a copy or upload as he's under contract for a defunct company- *sigh*) saw Gerard (as well as Donner) there and had good things to say about running into the guy, too. Continually hear good things about Gerard, Cain, and Welling when fans run into them... Maybe it's something about playing Superboy that brings out the good in people...dunno.
