This is the third Reeve statue by you I've seen, including the Cinemaquette one, and it is your best effort yet. You even gave him a smile, which so many sculptors seem to shy away from for some reason.

I'm sure someday we'll see an all CGI Superman movie, and that sculpture needs to be used as the model for the main character. CGI villains are so 2006, we need CGI heroes now. (Unless you can make that thing animatronic?)

That is absolutely incredible. If you had told me it was a photo of Reeve, I probably would have believed it.
What age is he meant to be there?

a great sculpt and extremely lifelike. my only nitpicks are the hair and that the sculpt looks much older than reeve does in the movies. were you going for an older look?

hey, mike. don't take it personally. just trying to offer some constructive criticism. if you're going to post your work, you should always expect some kind of criticism. not everyone is going to like the same thing 100%
it's still an extremely lifelike sculpt, but the face IMO, does look aged. that's why i asked if that's what you were going for.
in regards to the hair, it looks good, but not spot on. a minor nitpick.

Hi Mike,
Is the smile and pose based when Superman says he a friend?

One more thing regarding the hair.
During Superman the movie and Superman 2 ,Reeve's hair changes back and forth between different styles constantly, due to the time of shooting and different directors. In 3 and 4 Reeves wears wigs, lighter in color than the first movie.
So your point about the hair confuses me. If there is a specific still or scene that sticks out in YOUR mind, then I cant possibly match that..I can only do what I like. I even went as far as adding lighter, shorter hair along the forehead where Reeves real color often showed.
Thanks.

Hi Mike, Is the smile and pose based when Superman says he a friend? Hi MJD I didnt really base it on any particular scene or movie..its just Christopher Reeve as Superman. Thanks Mike

You cant realistically post something on a message board full of people who know Reeve's face like the back of their hands & not expect some constructive criticism. It doesn't pay to be that sensitive about it on the internet. Especially around hardcore fans.
That said, it does have some good things about it. I need to see more angles before stating a real opinion.

I assume this is the same Mike Hill that made sculpts of Alex Ross's Superman and Karloff and Lugosi? Lugosi is uncanny.

I need to see more angles before stating a real opinion. Constructive critisism is useless once a piece is finished. It cant be changed. Its not about being overly sensitive..its about showing some respect to a person who spents months on this piece of art. A piece that people who worked with Chris on the original movie and others projects got emotional when they saw it in person. I created everything right down to the eyeballs. This wasnt a commision,I did it because I love the actor and the character. I think to get a likeness that pleases everybody is impossible..I know that for a fact. Just appreciating a persons hard work is OK you know. Thanks.
