I keep checking HISHE. They don't have Trek 2 yet, either.

So what's the feeling out there on the its boxoffice performance?
I follow a couple of boxoffice sites, but I can't get a grasp of how the film's BO is being interpreted. It is sitting at #2 for the year, but is it considered a hit?

I'd say absolutely. It'll end near $300 domestic. That's fucking fantastic! And worldwide, shit, it'll be considered a hit.

Overall, yeah, it's a hit. But the week 2 crash had to have gotten WB's attention. Movie like this shouldn't have a 65% drop in week 2, even with strong competition.
Star Trek Into Darkness opened smaller than expected, but performed pretty well in subsequent weeks. Even going up against Hangover 2 and Fast and Furious 6, it only had a 47% drop in week 2.

It might make around 625 million worldwide -- which is a lot! Warners were expecting more. Should have done 800.

Yeah, it seems a bit short of what I thought it'd make, but surely WB must be happy with what it has done. Did they project $800M worldwide?
The UK and China really turned out for it!
I can't waaaait for the bluray.

I'm just SO glad Warners isn't the only studio putting out superhero films. They definitely seem like the type to put all their eggs in one basket.... again, and again, and again.....

Agreed. Totally. If this is a hit they might play it safe and stick with Superman. I think this might take them off track even more on some ways. We should be hearing some official talk on certain things soon. If we don't I don't know what to think.

The San Diego Comic Con is next week. Rest assured, we will hear something from WB about DC's future.

The San Diego Comic Con is next week. Rest assured, we will hear something from WB about DC's future. Sent from my SPH-D710 using proboards Well they only recently disolved the partnership with legendary and replaced it with some company called "dune" (no kidding) entertainment- I don't know if denofgeek covered it yet, but ostensibly it was to leverage more "risky" movies and we infer its to expand the DCU. That said- I'm NOT going to panic if we DON'T hear anything immediately. I mean- I'm sure there'll be talk of MOS2 in a vague-ish non commital way. There will be a MoS2- but the specifics can't be entirely shaken down this early (would love to be wrong) so there will be more in the weeks and months ahead. Of course the fans and media will be impatient and overreact because all marvel has to do is say "....we'll do a black panther movie...at some point...now for a safe sequel!" And on paper that puts them well ahead. But hey- if WB says "we'll do flash and wonder woman...soon! Now for a safe sequel!" Everyone will bitch.

I believe that they're the company that put out the excellent "Chronicle" superhero film. If so.... good choice!

Is Despicable Me 2 on track to surpass MoS as the #2 grossing movie of the year?

STM was beaten by Grease and SII was beaten by On Golden Pond and Raiders. But let's all laugh at the first in a new series being beaten by the sequel to a hugely successful children's film, doing it off the back of SR and in an age when the industry is over saturated with comic book films LOTR probably grossed more than the majority of his favourite films

Grease, Raiders and On Golden Pond are legendary films.
Despicable Me 2???
Doesn't have the same legendary sound to it.
