Totally. That's pretty much why Daniel Craig is doing big numbers as Bond. They're appealing to women. Cool thing about Craig is even though he appeals to women men like him too. He's not one of those guys that ladies swoon over that guys hate. He's pretty cool. You'd think Hollywood would go for more guys like that to make more money. And that's the quality every Bond has had and the key to its success: Women want him, men want to be him.

Does Gosling do movies like this though? He seems to be doing lots of indiecool movies at the moment like Drive and The Place Beyond The Pines. Would this be 'beneath him'? There are three kinds of movies, according to "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back": The money picture, which allows you to pay for the art picture, and then there's the picture because your buddy says you owe him.

As long as WB gets to randomly slap his name onto stuff to fool some people into coming they'll pay for anything he wants.

Such a shame that because MOS hasn't reached $300 million domestic, WB rush to force Snyder to include Batman in the MOS sequel.
If MOS had done $400 million domestic, there would be no talk of Batman cropping up until Justice League.
This really undermines the power and presence and iconic nature of Superman and will only lead to another underwhelming Superman movie, that has a fallback in Batman, rather than trying to be a greater Superman film than MOS was.

That brings up an interesting question:
If MOS 2 is a giant success--- Will the Superman sequels mainly be a 'Brave and the Bold' format and be mostly about introducing new DC characters to live action forever after this?
Might not be the worst scenario- but it feels like a variation on Superman III--- they didn't feel like the Superman/Clark story was interesting/strong enough to carry the audience interest, so they allowed Richard Pryor story to be half of the film.
Essentially, Batman fulfills the Richard Pryor role in SIII. Sad.

The DC Universe has a MAJOR clusterfuck going.
Superman Returns caused a reboot, Green Lantern was a failure, and now MOS has split the fanbase and has lukewarm reviews, causing it to be the worst reviewed superhero film of the year, significantly trailing both Iron Man 3 and Wolverine at Rotten Tomatoes.
The only thing DC has going for it are the Nolan Batman films, but now those are over and they have no Batman.

It's been years of them copying what worked in the past. On film and television. That's not even counting the long list of failures besides the ones you mentioned. Why would they think David E Kelly could make a Wonder Woman tv show? Why? Wonder Woman isn't Ally McBeal. Whedons the guy they should have begged. Maybe they should have even thought of Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert after the success of Xena.
They should have begged Timm Dini and Burnett to take the reigns ages ago. They are the best guys in the WB stable of talent to make a DC film universe happen. They already did it on tv the way Marvel did it on film.

I find news of Snyders meeting with Frank Miller quite disturbing.
I don't really want him taking ideas from a cock who bastardized Superman for TDKR. Last thing we need is Batman being portrayed as a genius alongside a Superman who's basically a retard with powers.

Yeah exactly! Please don't dumb down Superman just to give him a reason to need Batman's help, and portray Batman as the intelligent one and Superman as the one with muscles!

I was willing to give David E. Kelly a chance at WW- he's had some BRILLIANT tv episodes, as well as some awful ones.... but, yeah, that WW pilot was as awful as could be. A Whedon Wonder Woman tv show would have been amazing.... but I doubt Whedon would ever trust WB again. (Can anyone blame him)--- and I wonder if WB has the brains to kick themselves as Whedon takes over the Avengers and the Shield tv show (which should be a smash hit, barring any unforseen terribleness).
It's been awhile, but I'm still shocked that Bruce Timm says that he's not even on WB's liveaction radar, given how long he's been doing superhero tv shows.
Wish I knew SOMEONE on the inside of WB that would share what the heck goes on behind the closed doors- because what comes out, outside of Nolan's Batmanverse, seems to be a bit of a disaster.
I also wonder: does anyone trust what Geoff Johns has to say in his position at conventions anymore? He talked a great game at Wondercon about what WB/DC had in store for all its characters, but that was before we all saw Green Lantern. (Which he seemed to throw his full support behind.)
(*Although it's highly possible that he just shared what he THOUGHT was going to happen.)

I just heard on the MOS fanpage on facebook that word is going around that WB wants an older Batman, around his 40s. Sounds like Batman might be the first costumed hero in this DCU, and might be a little more in tune with The Dark Knight Returns than we thought.. I'm starting to get a bad feeling about this....

I'll be AMAZED if the next film turns out awesome.
AMAZED.
The last surprise I had was back in 1992 when Batman Returns turned out as awesome as it did after the 1989 film disappointed me to no end.
Anyway, all this team has shown me is that they know how to use CGI and make it look pretty, but so far, they can't convince me that they're going to make the CGI matter.
Sucker Punch had the SAME EXACT problem. Lots of cool imagery, but it felt empty and I just never felt invested in the story or what was going on in the screen. AT ALL.
MOS improved on it slightly, but not enough to make me feel like Snyder is overcoming this fundamental problem of making us care about the pretty pictures.

I'm starting to get a bad feeling about this.... damn if Zack Snyder is going to Frank Miller for advice on Batman/Superman then I have even less than no faith in this movie. As for the other rumor of the day that they are considering older actors for Batman? Makes me think of Flashpoint Batman (but not quite as old). Hmm...looking on the not so bright side: one day in a darkened theater a trailer proclaims "from the visionary minds behind Sucker Punch and The Spirit." Another rumor is WB's looking at guys like Josh Brolin, Jon Hamm, and Gerard Butler. The only issue I have with that is longevity and willingness to commit. That's what Bale had over every other Bactor. But if DKR is their inspiration I can see why they'd want older. Batman LOOKED older than Superman in the story even though he wasnt and I guess they like the idea of seasoned vet vs rookie hero. If they go older Karl Urban is my choice. No ifs ands or rubber butts. Sorry, Clooney. No second chance for you. But like I said for the LONG TERM I think going with an older Batman is a mistake. Some of the guys they are looking at aren't going to stick around for multiple movies. We've been through this before with Batman.

Millers been a no talent hack bastard for years. Dark Knight Strikes again was like printed diarrhea. The Spirit was so awful it was like seeing Millers rampant ego take a flaming piss all over Will Eisner's grave. He always said Orion tucked him over when he was writing Robocop 2 and 3. I read his comic book adaptation of his original scripts. It was shit. Crusty corn filled shit. Frank Miller lost it years ago and between that and being up his own ass he has no useful advice to give. His entire view on the characters and the source materials has been distorted through his ego. All Star Batman still makes me to WTF? It's got to be Miller taking the piss as you guys call it.

LITERALLY...if it's Josh Brolin as it's being talked about, I'm sold. I'm all sorts of fucking sold. I love Brolin, and him as Batman? YUP. GIMME.
He looks bad ASS in Oldboy.

(*Although it's highly possible that he just shared what he THOUGHT was going to happen.) The DEK WW Pilot had some going things going for it but overall it was waaaaay off the mark. Kelly was trying to Kellyize it with things like Themyscera industries. Ok I could roll with that. But the tone was so wrong. It was trying too hard to be hip and trendy and edgy while lacking much of the characters heart. WB and DC NEED a Kevin Feige type in charge. Someone who knows this stuff and is captaining the ship. Sure WB puts people in charge of DCE but let's he honest they are figureheads. They have no real power. They are puppeteed by the suits at the top. Great, now an older Batman. DC films are FUCKED. They don't have a clue what they are doing, Enrique. Even if MOS2 isn't an adaptation of DKR WB probably looked at some pages or listened to Goyer talk about it and liked the image of old Batman and young Superman. If they had a plan they'd consider how that affected the long term. Right now I think they are throwing shit against the wall like they were before 2003. the only difference is they have MOS as a base.

Here's Cavill pretending that he believes a Batman/Superman movie would be a great idea! "It would be a nice balance between the two"!!!!!

Having said everything I have, I have to admit I might backpedal a bit, (but only a bit since the same creative team practically ensures the same flaws), if they announce either of the following actors as Batman:
1. Christian Bale 2. Josh Brolin (as Kevin said) 3. JGL (although he doesn't quite have the stature at this point) 4. Gerard Butler (I like Butler and feel that he's kinda underappreciated because of all the shit films he's done, but I think he can and will shine with the right material)

i am not going to panic- YET.
when i read that snyder said something like "regardless of how i feel about superman i will have to go along with whatthe studio wants." THAT told me what i suspected the moment batman/superman was announced. i have speculated here and elsewhere that WB had a list of contingencies for MoS with regard to the BO take and for building the shared universe. as many of you say- if MoS was a runaway like TDK then they would (likely) not be adding batman to the mix, as snyder's comments suggest this was a plan B, second best case scenario. if the last TWO batman movies make over a billion, and superman makes between 2/3 and 3/4 of a billion then adding the two- on paper- seems like a sure way to make a lot of $$.
im not worried about the concept of worlds finest (i have lamented that tehy didnt do "asylum" back in 02) - its all in the execution. many (certainly not all) of us believe that snyder was actually a strength for MoS and goyer somewhat underperformed. (we HAVE a thread for THAT - so PLEASE!! )
so what gives me pause is that snyder, who i have grown to really like, could be working on a movie he isnt happy about, and that the lead, henry cavil, - who certainly was a strong (possibly most saving) element to the success of MoS- who could justifiably be miffed at being relegated to any degree so soon.
but its all going to come down to execution. MoS was much more on-the-level than i would thought from snyder a couple years ago, and DC is almost certainly going to insist on some content mandates.
as to frank miller, yeah his best work is behind him- but i think the scheduled meeting has at least SOMETHING to do with the 300 spinoff that snyder is producing. of course they are going to have conversations about superman vs batman. but i wouldnt read too much yet- but i have ZERO boubt thatthe first full trailer for MoSII/SvsB will have an aerial shot of superman and batman grappling over the city and wailing on each other, and batman wil have kryptonite gauntlets or something. THAT shot is happening. and its going to look COOL.
but a lot can happen. is it too late for snyder to wiggle out? is he THAT disappointed that he even wants to? cavil is a pro- but is he going to be keen on sharing the lead? will we be hearing about new writers while well into production?
on the other hand, if ARROW continues to be a success, adds flash and others, flash gets a cool show of his own- then WB will have really ramped up their shared universe rather quickly. maybe adding batman to MoS is an escalation of schedule, BECAUSE of MoS' success, not a "desperation". its going to be a fascinating couple summers here before we see it all shake out.
