Metallo, this is the only time I've done it, I dont go around making rash judgement calls unless it warrants it
And this DOES warrant it, the film should never have been made.

I hate to tell you this but if they don't keep making new stuff with Superman the character will die out. Do you want that?
Every generation deserves a Superman and unfortunately Reeve won't be doing it anymore. Why should little kids not have a Superman to look up to or get to meet? You re being selfish.
With that attitude there should have been a new Bond movie or a new Hulk movie or a new Zorro or a new Batman movie.
I'm starting to think this is a big joke being played by you just to have a laugh and you've actually seen Superman Returns like a dozen times.

I honestly have not seen it
I'm not being selfish, those Reeve movies could entertain kids for the next 100 years. If I ever have kids, they'll certainly know him.

Is every child going to search out a bunch of movies from 20 years ago?
I don't see Kids clamoring for Nicholas Hammond, but they love Tobey McGuire's Spider-man.
And how are they going to go to a comic con or whatever and meet Christopher Reeve if they want to?

. The ONLY thing the new movie REALLY MUST have is a good script to work from. And to that I will agree.

Why should little kids not have a Superman to look up to or get to meet? no and they shouldn't. with kids its generational. they're just not going to dig on a lot of shit that isn't current to them in their media (toys, coloring books, pajamas). i completely agree that you have to keep reinventing these things through the ages to keep them alive. Superman is our King Arthur. We'll keep telling his story over and over and over again. As it should be. That don't mean that anyone's ever going to do it as good as Donner and Reeve, but if they don't try, comics alone will not sustain the legacy.

And there's nothing wrong with films from 20 years ago, the here and now sucks

Did anyone feel in SR that there was very little Clark Kent? I have not seen it since its opening but was very disappointed with this. Routh was fine, I just did not like the overall dark tone of the movie.

Hurst. We're not even telling you to watch it with an open mind. Just WATCH it. I've ALWAYS respected your opinion, certainly as much as any of the guys on the board...but I can't take this bit seriously! And only because you haven't watched it. That's my only complaint.
Watch it. If nothing else, it'll give you fuel for your hatred, but at least it'll be legit fuel!!!
Even guys who DON'T like (and there's plenty of 'em) it think this is a little goofy.

It's because we like you, but think you're just being dense about this!
Seriously. You won't even have to pay for it. Your only investment will be 2 hours of your life.
I'm not even gonna kid myself and say, "Hey, you may like it."

Jerry Siegel understood Superman better than Christopher Reeve ever did Hurt. That doesn't mean I think Reeve's interpretation wrong.
And why is anyone not Reeve a substitute Superman. George Reeves played Superman before Chris was even born. Why is George not the TRUE Superman?
Regardless, watch Superman Returns then say it sucks...not before.

He is the true Superman because he was the best one.

Better than the version created by Jerry Siegel? What if he and Joe Shuster said he wasn't the best? He's not exactly like their take on Superman.
