Small boy playing at Superman?
An embarrasing joke?
Should he take some lessons from Bale on how to play a superhero
How can I have an opinion when I haven't seen it?
Discuss all this and more!
Negativity welcomed immensely.

Yknow, I named a law after an extremely stubborn friend of mine. Bybee's Law: If he hasn't seen it, he hates it. Would you be too offended if I were to rename it Hursty's Law? I mean, it seems appropriate enough.

But bear in mind, this is pre-conceived hate, not just random.

Touche.
Answer me something, is it your life's mission to never watch SR? Or do you plan to get to it eventually?
Either way's fine with me, just curious.

No, my lifes mission is to ressurect the career of Michael Pare AND to own Tottenham Hotspur.
I think one of them is acheivable, should I set my heart on it.

At the rate Hurst went with Batman Begins he'l probably end up watching SR next year and easing up on Routh just as he did with Bale.

The things i didn't like about Brandon Routh were out of his control. The costume gave me head-aches (to begin with but i got over it) and the hair.
The hair is a modern cut and i sort of see what Bryan was going for to up date the style but it really didn't work.
I think Brandon was generally recieved as one of the few things about SR that most people liked.
Oh, the line "Will you come with me, Lois?" i thought was poorly delivered... that's it.

No, my lifes mission is to ressurect the career of Michael Pare To do that, you'll have to "take care of" Uwe Boll. And in that, I fully support you.

I can't say. I only ever saw in his work on SR. I personally didn't think too much of him. About that Bale comment. I think Bale knows all the better how to portray a hero, he's been theatrically trained. Routh has not been trained that well, unlike CR, who attended Juliard! In interviews he has also come across as egocentric and full of himself. He's really not that great, In My HUMBLE Opinion.

Routh was saddled with an overly mopey script, but he was perfectly charming in the few moments where he was allowed to be. Dropping off Kitty at the hospital was probably the best example.
I'd like to see him in a Superman movie that doesn't force him to pout and stalk people for most of the film. I think he deserves that chance.

Michael Gough once said he had no formal training as an actor whatsoever...clearly he sucked hard as Alfred because of that Considering Chris and George's...*ahem*..CURRENT status I'm pretty sure he is, Hursty. The guy has bent over backward to honor Chris Reeve. How many other actors do that when they take over a part. Its not like Chris Reeve OWNED the character, which would be pretty hard considering he was a phenomenon before Chris Reeve as a gleam in his daddy's pants. What about the people who said about Reeve in 1978 what your saying about Routh now? Chris wasn't superman because of George Reeves. By that logic George Reeves is still Superman and Chris wasn't fit to zip his boots.

thought routh definitely had his moments. a little stiff at times, but it was his first big role. made me care during the moments i was supposed to care which is the most important thing i guess. he'll only get better with more experience. i'm definitely in for seeing him as Superman again.

Michael Gough once said he had no formal training as an actor whatsoever...clearly he sucked hard as Alfred because of that I was simply mentioning that in some cases theatrical training helps. With inner dialogue per se. You know, Tommy Lee Jones never had formal training either, but they worked in a Hollywood where you learned from who else you worked with. Some were the best. Routh is not like those just mentioned. He was a mere tool to get the franchise going again. I don't think anyone higher up really cared if he could act. Plus, some people have it, and some don't. It's not that I don't appreciate his loyalty to the series. I do. But if you have a legacy to carry on, and hundreds of thousands of fans to please, which I know is no easy task, it would be best if you knew how to play that game. It's obvious what his skills were...

Routh is the only guy I could possibly think of to be Superman right now. He's doing the legacy proud. Just needs a better script next time.

Routh was a solid actor. he's not the best but clearly he has some talent. He walks all over Welling and Cain. With all the problems this movie supposedly had it STILL made 400 million dollars...it made more than Batman Begins.
If the movie was awful it wouldn't have sniffed HALF of that. Routh does have "it" at least as far as Superman is concerned. He was by far the best choice compared to even some of the more well known actors who were courted. His honesty in the role helped him carry much of that movie on his back. No he isn't Christopher Reeve but then Christopher Reeve wasn't THE greatest actor himself. Compare his non Superman track record to say...Christian Bale. Was he better than Bale? Very subjective, but both are damn good actors.
You mean Two Face from Batman forever? I dunno if that HELPS what you are saying or HURTS it. Clearly some training as an actor is a PLUS any way you slice it but you could stick a trained/award winning actor in there and they could STILL blow.
Rouths got what it takes. If he didn't I'd be the first guy to say so.

At this point, I feel like they could do better. He was fine, he would be better if they gave him more lines but he didn't knock it out of the park.
If they're gonna spend millions of dollars on a movie, I want them to make the absolute best of it. The perfect actors, the perfect script, the perfect director, etc.

The cast with the exception of maybe Bosworth was fine and even she gets to much flak. You've got an academy award winner as Martha. Langella is a fine actor. He's even familiar with these types of movies (hes been Zorro AND Skeletor) so he knows the deal. Huntington may be the best Jimmy ever. Spacey has been a choice talked about as Luthor since the late 90's and he's a great actor himself.
Of all the "known" guys ALL of them were god awful. Hartnett? Kutcher? Gyllenhaal? Jesus we dodged a bullet. Cage? A BIG bullet.
Routh is the right age, the right look, a solid actor. he comes across as honest and not an ego. He's committed. he's a fan. He's enthusiastic for the mythos (unlike Welling).
Routh was THE best thing that came out of that movie and thank God it was him. I CRINGE at who Ratner or McG would have gotten. X3 was crappy and Terminator 4 is on the fence.
The ONLY thing the new movie REALLY MUST have is a good script to work from.

Of all the "known" guys ALL of them were god awful. Hartnett? Kutcher? Gyllenhaal? Jesus we dodged a bullet. Cage? A BIG bullet. I've always said Superman Returns was a lot better than what we could have gotten, but that doesn't mean I'm satisfied exactly. Right age yes. Right look... honestly, I'm thinking that even Dean Cain, being 6'0 has a better Superman look. Cain might be one of the shortest, but he did look somewhat imposing due to his physique. Routh just doesn't look powerful to me. Neither Reeve or Cain needed padding to look imposing, Routh did, and it still didn't help. As for acting, Superman Returns wasn't exactly the best exhibition of his ability. He really didn't have much to do. I mean he did have a few good lines and delivered them convincingly. But it wasn't hugely impressive.
