I haven’t see SR or MOS in years but Smallville has reignited my Superman fanaticism to a degree for the first time in a long time, probably not since the pre-release of SR. So I’ve been wanting to check out all the Superman stuff out there including MOS. I did see part of Batman v Superman recently. And while I know that it’s a controversial film, I semi-enjoyed it in the theater but didn’t like how Snyder treated Superman. More specifically, I don’t care for Cavill’s portrayal. Except for his role as a villain in Mission Impossible, I can’t say that I’m impressed with Cavill as an actor overall anyway. He definitely LOOKS like Superman. I mean, it’s uncanny how Supermanish he looks. But the portrayal just doesn’t seem like Superman. It used to be that I liked ALL of the Superman actors kinda like how I enjoy all the Bond actors, but Cavill is the first Superman I flat out don’t like. I still want to rewatch MOS and BvS properly and I still haven’t seen JL, so I’ll try to keep an open mind but that’s how I feel about it now. As for Routh, I liked him ok. He didn’t blow me away but he passed. Part of the problem is that his Superman didn’t talk much. Routh didn’t have a lot of acting experience and I could easily see that Singer was trying to work around that. So we got a Superman that wasn’t very expressive or talkative. Neither Cavill or Routh seemed as natural in the role as Welling. With Cavill, I blame the material, with Routh his inexperience (and partially the material). But neither guy nailed it. I sort of agree.... Reeve is a hard (if not impossible) act to follow. . You know, I actually don’t compare Reeve to other Superman actors. It’s like Connery is my favorite Bond but I looooooove Roger Moore. Two totally different takes on the character and equally enjoyable.

Speaking of Shazam, I loved it! I thought it was going to bad/ok, but it’s my favorite DC film so far. I saw the first 10 minutes or so of Aquaman and was enjoying it.
I rank them like this:
1) Shazam 2) Wonder Woman (good not great)
3) Batman v Superman (entertaining/diverting but poopty booty Superman story. Plus: Affleck’s Batman and WW. Lex Luther was embarrassingly bad. After Rosenbaum’s awesome portrayal, I can’t believe they regressed this badly on Lex. 4) MOS (it’s just not Superman. Like Ilya Salkind said “It was a little Batmanish.” Enjoyed Krypton but movie got worse as it went on.

I wasn’t a fan of MOS and thought BvS was mildly entertaining, so I don’t think more Zack Snyder will make me like JL any more than the previous 2 films, but hey. More power to the fans who enjoyed Snyder’s DCU work. For me Personally, I can’t imagine it would be much better than the first two films.
I still haven’t seen the theatrical.
It has been YEARS since I saw MOS so I want to give it another chance

After 10 years of Smallville showing us Superman’s origin, I’m not sure another origin movie was what audiences wanted or needed.
I’m in the middle of season 7, and I’m still enjoying Smallville tremendously. I wonder if it would’ve been better to have a Superman movie based on Smallville’s storyline with actors reprising their roles.
As someone invested in Smallville right now, I think I would’ve preferred seeing the actors and characters we grew to love continue the Superman story. Instead of having to start over with MOS.
You know, I’m grateful for SR being a continuation of the Donnerverse. We never thought we’d get that. Its heart was in the right place, but...we got what we got.

I was just wondering if—after a 10 year run on TV—was Smallville’s presence on TV kinda take away from SR and MOS’s box office? If I had been watching Smallville consistently back then, I’m not sure I would’ve been that ecstatic about either movie.

I remember they rebooted everything with the new 52, and then I think I read somewhere they undid that reboot? Anyway, I’m totally out of the loop.

You know, I gotta say I’ve been really enjoying the series. There have been times that it feels like a slow build, but I like that.

Tom Welling was an amazing Clark/Superboy. You had the character going through growing pains but it still FELT like Superman. His values were at his core.

Didn’t really the replies too much (sorry, don’t want to come across spoilers), but I’m still enjoying the show and I’m at the end of season 6.
I wasn’t sure about bringing Zod and Lois in but I’m going with it and I’m really enjoying it. In a way, it all makes sense.
Michael Rosenbaum is a great Luthor and his fall is very well handled and acted. Likewise, Tom Welling is great as a young Clark.
Surprised how much I’m enjoying Chloe Sullivan, particularly in later seasons. She kinda reminds me a little of Ahsoka Tano in that she started off a little annoying and has progressed into a likeable character.
Lionel Luthor, amazing.

Back in the day when it was on the air, I watched an episode here and there and liked it. Being in my mid 20s, I didn’t have cable or TV.
So I took advantage of being home and saw seasons 1 and I just finished Rosetta.
Man, I like this show.
I remember several members ragging on it, but I’m enjoying the performances and character development.
Rosenbaum might be the best onscreen Luthor yet. Really like Tom Welling.
Only things that could be better that seem improved upon in Season 2 is the “villain of the week” thing.
But overall, enjoyable.

Ross Webster teaching Zod the ways of the Dark Side of the Force. Even though I'm a fan of both men, I had no idea they had done a movie together until I had read Vaughn's obituary just now.

Always liked him since I was a kid because of Superman III and Man From UNCLE reruns. Super classy, super elegant guy.
You know what else I liked him in, even though he wasn't the star? The Towering Inferno.

And they were going to ask him to join them. We are all ready to win, just as we are born knowing only Reeve. It is bullying that you must learn to prepare for. Don't waste my time with it. When it comes, I won't even notice.

It was probably on his annual review. After all, he's good but Lois Lane is better.

"Don't do it, Jason! I have the high ground!" For a second I thought you were making a Tommy Jarvis/Friday the 13th part VI reference. Come on, maggot head.

Superman ALWAYS...ALWAYS...came up in all the interviews I've ever seen, even going into the mid 90s.
I think he was under pressure to play Superman again and might've been persuaded to do so with the right script and money, kinda like how Harrison Ford was lured back to Star Wars even after wanting to move on.
Would've loved to have seen him in a role in a Tarantino movie.

I'm sorry, he reminds me of a cosplayer.
In his defense, I've never seen this guy act (that I know of), and I remember I wasn't thrilled with Dean Cain when I first saw him and I ended up really enjoying Cain's performance. I also had strong doubts about Daniel Craig as Bond (like a lot of people) and he ended up being phenomenal.
I wish the TV and movie universes had the same actors, but then the DC films are ending up being such creative disasters that I guess it's probably a good thing.

Part of me wants to believe Cavill is a good Superman stuck with a director that doesn't like or respect the character's true nature and stuck with half-assed scripts.
I think a big reason for that is that in interviews, Cavill feels more like Superman than he does in the actual movie.
If you watch him in interviews, (or at least the couple I've seen), he smiles a lot and seems like a genuinely nice guy.
But then you watch his performance, and he almost never smiles, is moody and just doesn't seem like Superman even though he has "the look" for Superman.
